About Us
The United National Gridiron League was developed for one specific goal: to create professional opportunities for college football players! The league will evaluate players based on their football specific abilities all while giving them the opportunity to showcase their skills against the top rising talent in the country.
Currently, the system used to evaluate talent for professional football is seriously flawed. Many young athletes who aspire to play professional football are subject to college discrimination. Simply put, if they haven’t attended a division 1 school, in most cases they are never given a legitimate opportunity. In addition, some of these athletes are barred because they may lack one or more of the following categories: star quality, statistical measurements, political sports connections, and/or appropriate financial resources.
The United National Gridiron League's goal is to expand the talent pool of quality players, enhance the selection process and enable professional football teams to provide the highest quality product to their loyal fan base. As for the athlete, they will be given an opportunity to make a professional career on their own terms rather than being victim to the typical standards set forth by the faulty system mentioned above.
Lastly, it is important to note that every aspect of the United National Gridiron League is geared towards supporting professional football leagues such as the NFL, CFL, AFL, or any other professional football league, and aiding them in their efforts to put only the best talent on the field. We will provide an atmosphere that will increase the prosperity of the aforementioned football leagues while elevating the integrity of the overall game. With the development of a professional player evaluation league, there are numerous benefits for everyone involved but ultimately, the most important benefit is the development of the player. We are the United National Gridiron League...developing tomorrow's stars of the game!
League Structure
The United National Gridiron League will have the same professional rules as the NFL. The teams are named and selected by the Board of Directors. Each team will be given their respective team colors and will have an outline on the appearance. All ownership will follow the league rules and structure. There will be guidelines and responsibilities of the owners that will be required to help increase the visibility of the league and professionalism of the players. Everything asked by team ownership will be in the best interest of the United National Gridiron League and the teams.
The selection of the Cities is strictly based on media markets and high football demographics. We look to give Cities the brand association that they experience presently with their teams. Our intent is to give the fan the feeling that they are watching the development of a player that could be selected in the next draft or ultimately play for their favorite team. Demographically we understand where football plays a part of the community, city or state.
Player Selection
The United National Gridiron League will send league information out to colleges and universities through out the country informing coaches and players of our evaluation camps. The player and or coach will also be asked to send tape of potential players. In each area there will be a North, South, East, West, and Central camp. These camps will be used to select the players of each team. If a potential player is interested it will be their responsibility to get to and from the camp. The league will take care of hotel, travel accommodations (to and from the airport). If a potential player has an agent that wants to take care of the accommodations, it will be accepted. All camp information and video will be shared with all teams and their front office. The camps will run for one week and will begin in the first week in January 2009. At the end of that week, their respective teams will contact players. Players that play in bowl games during the 1st week will be contacted. Each team will make the arrangements for their players to report to camp.
The Season
The season will start in January 2009 and end in April 2009 (before the NFL draft). There will be playoff games and a championship game. Each division winner gets in the playoffs, and the two teams with the best record get a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
