UNGL Player Development

On the field, our players will learn and develop the fundamental skills necessary to compete as successful athletes on the professional level. However, off the field, it is just as important to help educate these young men on the skills necessary to be successful people. In support of this belief, the “UNGL Player Development Department” has been designed as the center for a wide range of league-sponsored programs intended to educate our athletes on the issues surrounding life as a professional football player.

Divided into three key areas, Career Transition, Player Conduct, and Personal Development, the UNGL Player Development Department will focus on educating our athletes on a variety of important subjects that they will face during a career in professional football. Through an assortment of mediums such as video, Internet, guest speakers, etc., the Player Development Department will broadcast our message weekly to all UNGL teams. Some examples of topics covered under these three categories include:

  • Life as a Rookie
  • Media Relations
  • Personal Conduct
  • Performance Enhancing Drugs
  • Football Operations
  • Security
  • Family Issues
  • Sports Nutrition

Regardless of the topic, it is our objective to prepare these young men so that when faced with a potential career and/or life altering decision, they will be in the position to excel. By doing so, not only will they increase their individual worth and respective teams overall value but they will also help to solidify the UNGL as the country’s premier developer of young football talent.
